Rome, 6 June (LaPresse) – "I am thinking about how to restore the concept of the high school diploma exam because the state exam is very cold and does not correspond to a school that aims at the integral development of the person by combining instruction and education. Serious assessment of what has been learned is essential, but we also need to assess how much the school curriculum has contributed to the overall development of the student, what it has taught them." This was stated by the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, in an interview with La Stampa. ‘We need to make the state exam more consistent,’ continued Valditara, ‘with a school system that knows how to focus on a concept that has been forgotten by young people, who increasingly want to remain adolescents, and by adults, who in many cases seem to want to return to adolescence: that of maturity.’
