Johannesburg (South Africa), June 11 (LaPresse/AP) – At least 49 people have died due to flooding in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province. Governor Oscar Mabuyane stated that the death toll was provided by police. Among the victims were six students who were swept away when their school bus was caught by floodwaters near a river on Tuesday, Mabuyane told reporters. He added that four other students are still missing. Mabuyane’s office had initially reported seven deaths from the flooding on Tuesday.
