USA: Death toll from Texas floods rises to over 80

Milan, 7 July (LaPresse) – The risk of potentially deadly flooding remains high in central Texas, with more rain on the way. The urgent search for missing people continues after weekend floods killed at least 82 people, including children at summer camps. Authorities say the death toll is certain to rise. Governor Greg Abbott says more than 40 people are still missing. Rescue workers have now found 68 bodies in Kerr County, where a wall of water swept down the Guadalupe River. Sheriff Larry Leitha says 28 children are among the victims. Abbott warned on Sunday that further cycles of heavy rain continuing through Tuesday could cause more flash flooding.
