Turin, 7 July (LaPresse) – Giampaolo Ricci, captain of Olimpia Milan, has renewed his contract with the Lombardy club until 2027. ‘I am happy to continue my journey at Olimpia for at least another two years. Milan is like a second home to me: I am proud to continue fighting, growing and building something special for this jersey and for our fans,’ said the Italian basketball player. ‘Together!’ Giampaolo Ricci, born in Rome on 27 September 1991, 2.02 metres tall, power forward, arrived in Milan in the summer of 2021 from Virtus Bologna. In the summer of 2024, he was appointed co-captain of Olimpia. He won the 2023/24 championship with an average of 3.6 points per game; the 2022/23 championship with 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, shooting 59.3% from two and 42.6% from three points; he won the 2021/22 championship scoring 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds on average during the playoffs. He won the 2024 Super Cup with an average of 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds and the 2022 Italian Cup, scoring 5.7 points per game in the final three games. Ricci made his national team debut on 29 November 2018 in Brescia, in Italy's victory over Lithuania. He played in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo (averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds), the 2022 European Championships and the 2023 World Championships, averaging 9.6 points per game.
