Milan, March 3 (LaPresse) – In 2024, GDP at market prices amounted to 2,192,182 million euros in current terms, marking an increase of 2.9% compared to the previous year. In volume terms, GDP grew by 0.7%.
According to Istat, "in 2024, the Italian economy recorded a GDP growth in volume of 0.7%, the same as in 2023."
Regarding domestic demand, in 2024 there was an increase in volume of 0.5% in gross fixed investments and 0.6% in final national consumption.
As for foreign trade flows, imports of goods and services decreased by 0.7%, while exports grew by 0.4%. Net domestic demand, excluding inventories, and net foreign demand contributed positively to GDP growth by +0.5 and +0.4 percentage points, respectively, while the contribution from inventory changes was negative by -0.1 percentage points.
Value added increased in volume by 2.0% in agriculture, forestry, and fishing, by 1.2% in construction, and by 0.6% in service activities. A contraction of 0.1% was recorded in the manufacturing industry.
"The growth in production activity was accompanied by an expansion in labor input and incomes," Istat also noted.
