This is the result of a month of genuine and tireless efforts, unmatched in intensity and matched only by the unrivalled importance of our transatlantic trade.‘ These are the words of European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic at a press conference following the EU-US agreement. ’From the outset, we were convinced that our transatlantic relations deserved a negotiated outcome. That is why my team and I made 10 visits to Washington this year alone: given the depth of integration and mutual trust between our economies, it was essential to take the time needed to achieve this goal, to calibrate an outcome that works for both the European Union and the United States, and that ensures the continuation of trade between us."
