Milan, July 28 (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the situation in the Middle East, expressing support for a peaceful resolution of the region's conflicts. The Kremlin press office reported the call at its conclusion.
"Various aspects of the tense situation in the Middle East were discussed," the statement reads. "The Russian side reaffirmed its unwavering position in favor of an exclusively peaceful resolution of the existing problems and conflicts in the region."
"Vladimir Putin, in particular, emphasized the importance of supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic," the statement continued, "and of strengthening its internal political stability through respect for the rights and legitimate interests of all ethnic and religious groups within the population."
