Gaza, Hamas: "Expanding the aggression means sacrificing the hostages"

Milan, Aug. 8 (LaPresse) – A "war crime." This is how Hamas has described Israel's plan to take control of Gaza City.
Israel’s use of the term "control" instead of "occupation" is an attempt to "evade its legal responsibility for the consequences of its brutal crime against civilians," said the militant group, as reported by Al Jazeera.
Hamas then accused the Israeli government of not caring about the fate of the hostages held in Gaza:
"They realize that expanding the aggression means sacrificing them."
According to Hamas, Netanyahu’s plan explains Israel’s sudden withdrawal from the latest round of negotiations, adding that the two sides had been close to reaching an agreement on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
"We reaffirm that, during our communication with Egyptian and Qatari mediators, the movement showed all the necessary flexibility and goodwill to ensure the success of ceasefire efforts," the statement continued.
