Skiing, Mattia Casse Undergoes Surgery: "The Goal is to Recover for Next Season"

Turin, March 19 (LaPresse) – After his fall during the first downhill training run in Norway, Mattia Casse underwent surgery on his right elbow. The operation, successfully performed by Dr. Battiston at the Fornaca Clinic in Turin, was agreed upon with the FISI medical commission to ensure the best possible recovery path. The procedure involved the insertion of 16 screws and two plates to stabilize the fracture. Now, the athlete will have to wear a brace for the next three weeks before beginning rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

To ensure an optimal recovery and best prepare for the future, Casse and his team have decided to end the 2024-25 season early, focusing entirely on his return to competition next year. “I’m sorry I won’t be able to fight for a podium finish in the Super-G standings. I had regained the rhythm to compete with the top racers, but now my goal is to recover 100% and focus on next season, which will be crucial. I have three weeks of rest with a brace, then I’ll start physiotherapy with great determination,” Casse stated.

The medical and technical staff will closely monitor his rehabilitation process, aiming to bring Mattia back to peak condition for the 2025-26 season.
