Milan, Aug 27 (LaPresse) – Alessandro Florenzi has announced his retirement from football with an emotional video posted on Instagram, where he is seen playing with children on the pitch in Rome where he first began his journey. The 1991-born full-back, who spent the last four seasons at Milan, chose to say goodbye with a letter of thanks to football, calling it “my greatest challenge.” Florenzi reflected on his long journey from playing on makeshift fields behind containers to major stadiums like the Olimpico, San Siro, and Wembley. Football, he wrote, taught him resilience, willpower, and to never give up, giving him immense joys but also painful moments.
Addressing young players, Florenzi encouraged them to play with passion and always honor the crest on their jersey. In his message, he thanked fans, teammates, coaches, staff, and club officials for their constant support throughout his career. A special thought was given to the WSA family, who believed in him from the beginning, and to all the behind-the-scenes workers who helped shape him as both a person and a footballer. “Today we say goodbye, but you will always be a part of me,” he concluded, addressing football.
