Germany, Merz wants agreement with SPD on defence funds before EU summit

Frankfurt (Germany), 3 Mar (LaPresse) – The leader of the Cdu, Friedrich Merz, is counting on a quick agreement between the Union (Cdu-Csu) and the Spd to mobilise additional billions, especially for defence. ‘The urgency, in my view, is great,’ Merz said after meetings of the parliamentary committees of the Cdu in Berlin. ‘We should try to reach an agreement on this before the EU summit on Thursday,’ Merz explained, adding that, however, no details or figures could be given yet. ‘Everything is open,’ the CDU leader added.
