London, Rome, 7 September (LaPresse/AP) – British police said today that they had arrested nearly 900 people protesting in London against the ban imposed on the Palestine Action group, considered a terrorist organisation by the government.Since the group was outlawed two months ago, nearly 1,600 people have been arrested, many of them for silently displaying placards in support of the group. Protesters argue that the ban on Palestine Action constitutes an unjustified restriction on freedom of expression and the right to protest. The Metropolitan Police said 890 people were arrested during yesterday’s demonstration, most of them, 857, under the Terrorism Act for supporting a banned organisation. About 33 people were arrested for other offences, including 17 for assaulting police officers.
