Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 9 (LaPresse/AP) – Nepal’s Prime Minister, Khadga Prasad Oli, has resigned following violent protests over the government’s social media ban and corruption. The decision came after protesters set fire to the homes of several top political leaders, in the wake of anti-government unrest during which police opened fire and killed 19 people. Media and social videos showed demonstrators attacking the residences of leading politicians in and around Kathmandu. Authorities have imposed a curfew in the capital and other cities. Kathmandu’s schools remain closed. Among the homes set ablaze are those of Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader of the largest party Nepali Congress, President Ram Chandra Poudel, Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Nepali Communist Party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
