Milan, March 24 (LaPresse) – U.S. negotiators are holding talks in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with their Ukrainian counterparts and separately with the Russians. Washington's goal is to achieve an immediate partial ceasefire in the war in Ukraine, followed by a full peace agreement. This is according to the BBC, which reports that these talks could produce the breakthrough many hope for. "I think he (Putin, ed.) wants peace," said President Trump's personal envoy Steve Witkoff, adding, "I think you'll see real progress on Monday in Saudi Arabia." However, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's spokesman, tempered expectations. "We are only at the beginning of this journey," he said in an interview with Russian state TV. On Saturday evening, Kiev suffered one of its heaviest attacks from Russian drones, with three people killed, including a five-year-old girl. "We need to push Putin to give a real order to stop the attacks," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his Sunday evening address. "Those who brought this war must take it away."
