Milan, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – “When I wrote ‘Il mondo al contrario’ (The World Upside Down), this case of Ilaria Salis had not yet emerged, otherwise I would have included it, and it would have been the cornerstone of the book. The case of a woman with multiple convictions in Italy, who is also under investigation for deliberately going to Hungary to assault someone who disagreed with her, and who, in order to avoid trial, is elected to the European Parliament by a left-wing faction that always sides with criminals, and then receives confirmation of her parliamentary immunity for an alleged crime committed before she became an MEP and unrelated to her parliamentary duties, which the immunity is meant to protect,” said Roberto Vannacci, an MEP and deputy secretary of the Lega party, speaking to LaPresse. This comes after the Juri Committee of the European Parliament voted against revoking the parliamentary immunity of Ilaria Salis, the Avs MEP. “Today, in the Juri Committee, they insisted on a secret vote because they don’t even have the decency and courage to stand by those who allowed this disgrace and denial of justice. Shameful,” he concluded.
