Milan, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – “Today it became clear: the European Parliament has chosen to protect its own ally rather than stand with the people. By shielding Ilaria Salis from responsibility, the European Parliament has shown that its compass is political loyalty, not justice.” This is what Balazs Orban, political director of the office of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, wrote in a post on social media platform X. “By maintaining this political protection, the European Parliament made its choice: not to defend justice, but to protect its ideological allies. This is not just about one accused person, but about the honor and credibility of the European Parliament itself,” he added. “Today’s vote sends a devastating message: in Brussels, ideology prevails over the rights of victims and the safety of citizens. This is cynicism towards the innocent and proof that the European Parliament is no longer on the side of the people, but of its Brussels protégés.”
