Vatican City (Vatican), 24 September (LaPresse) – “Peace in the Holy Land”. This is the title of the statement approved by the Permanent Council of the CEI, the Italian Episcopal Conference, which was held in Gorizia. ‘We strongly demand that all forms of unacceptable violence against an entire people cease in Gaza and that the hostages be freed,’ the text reads. “International humanitarian law must be respected, putting an end to the forced exile of the Palestinian population, attacked by the Israeli army’s offensive and pressured by Hamas. We reiterate that the prospect of “two peoples, two states” remains the path to a possible future. For this reason, we urge the Italian government and European institutions to do everything possible to end the ongoing hostilities and we join the appeals of civil society.”
