Football: Consulate in Nice follows case of Roma fans arrested, no injuries

Milan, 24 September. (LaPresse) – Informed sources confirm to LaPresse that on the evening of 23 September, around 100 AS Roma fans who were away from home were arrested following violent clashes with Nice fans in the French city. They specify that “the Italian Consulate General in Nice immediately took action and is in constant contact with the local police”. According to reports, the French police ‘have assured Italian diplomatic personnel that there are no injuries and that all Italian nationals are in good health.’ The measure adopted for the arrest of Italian fans is “garde à vue”, a temporary 24-hour detention measure, which can be extended to 48 hours. ‘The Consulate General in Nice is following the case and is in constant contact with the local authorities in order to provide our compatriots with all necessary consular assistance,’ the sources added.
