Cycling, Municipality of Bologna: ‘Exclude Israeli team from Giro Emilia’

Parma, 24 September (LaPresse) – ‘We are opposed to the participation of an Israeli team in the Giro dell’Emilia at a time like this, when the Israeli government is committing serious crimes against the civilian population in the Gaza Strip’. This was stated by Roberta Li Calzi, Councillor for Sport at the Municipality of Bologna. ‘This is not a position against the athletes, but we cannot accept that a team linked to that same government can take part in a sporting event which, by its very nature, represents diametrically opposed values,’ she added. ‘We ask the organisers of the Giro dell’Emilia to exclude the Israeli team Premier Tech from the event.’
