Rome, 24 Mar (LaPresse) – ‘I was very impressed by the vitality of this nation, this country. You can see that it is projected towards the future and that it still has a will to increase its millennial history in the present and in the future. I believe that Italy and China, precisely because they have a millenary culture behind them, must play a very important role in this very delicate moment in international politics. They can be links between different visions, they can help tackle and resolve the most delicate issues: I am talking about Ukraine, the Middle East, I am talking about Israel and the Palestinian people'. Thus Senate President Ignazio La Russa, in an interview with the press service of the National People's Congress. ‘China and Italy,’ he reiterated, ‘can be the fundamental moment to give the possibility of meeting different positions but which must go in the same direction. Italy and China, I believe, are the oldest or among the oldest civilisations in the world, which have given the world's progress and culture a great boost. Last year was Marco Polo's 700th anniversary and every year cultural relations increase, including exchanges between universities and between Italian and Chinese students. I believe that our common ancient civilisation can be of great help in giving people around the world a sense of a peaceful future'.
