Nuclear issue: Iran recalls ambassadors from France, Germany and the UK for consultations

Dubai, (United Arab Emirates), 27 September (LaPresse/AP) – Iran has recalled its ambassadors from France, Germany and the United Kingdom ahead of the reintroduction of United Nations sanctions on its nuclear programme. The Iranian state news agency Irna reported the news, stating that the ambassadors had been recalled for consultations. The three nations had activated the “snapback” mechanism against Iran for failing to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency and for failing to hold direct talks with the United States. The sanctions will take effect at 00:00 GMT on Sunday. Iranian assets abroad will be frozen again, arms contracts with Tehran will be blocked and any development of Iran’s ballistic missile programme will be penalised.
