Milan, 29 September (LaPresse) – At Monday’s hearing in the civil case brought by Margherita Agnelli against John, Lapo and Ginevra Elkann in Turin, Margherita’s lawyers produced a copy of a new and previously unpublished will by lawyer Gianni Agnelli dated 1998. The document was found during investigations launched by the Public Prosecutor’s Office against, among others, John Elkann and Gianluca Ferrero, on charges of fraudulent tax evasion and fraud against the Italian state (who, it should be noted, have respectively requested probation and a plea bargain, effectively acquiescing to the charges brought against them), and Notary Remo Morone (son of Ettore), the latter accused of forgery in a public document. This is a holographic will, duly drawn up and signed on 20 January 1998, in which Gianni Agnelli stipulated that his shares in the company Dicembre, amounting to approximately 25%, should be transferred to his son Edoardo “in amendment of other previous provisions”, thereby revoking the provisions of the 1996 “Monaco letter”. The latter had been drawn up before Gianni Agnelli underwent a delicate operation in Monte Carlo and stipulated that 25% of his stake in Dicembre should be transferred to his grandson John Elkann.
