Rome, Sept. 30 (LaPresse) – The General Assembly of the CGIL union has mandated its Secretariat, in coordination with the Flotilla and the movement for Gaza, to call a timely general strike for all categories in the event of attacks, blockades, or seizures of the boats and materials of the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission and the consequent failure to open humanitarian corridors to Gaza, and in defense of the constitutional values that support this mission. This is what is stated in the final document approved by the General Assembly of the CGIL. Furthermore, it “commits all structures to organize participation on Saturday, October 4, in the national demonstration called by Palestinian associations in Rome on the basis of our positions that gave rise to the demonstrations on September 6 and the strikes on September 19” and “to participate in the Perugia-Assisi March on October 12 and to support all initiatives for peace and against rearmament. To schedule assemblies in workplaces and initiatives in the area, including permanent pickets, to bring these demands to life and prepare for participation in the national demonstration of the CGIL and “La Via Maestra” on October 25 in Rome, “Democracy at Work.”
