Flotilla, Tajani: ‘Israel has said there will be no violence’

Milan, 30 September (LaPresse) – “I hope that common sense will prevail on all sides. I spoke at length yesterday morning with Israeli Foreign Minister Saar, asking that if the Israelis intervene to stop the flotilla, they should not use violence, bearing in mind that these are peaceful people, including members of parliament. I can at least vouch for the Italians. I was told that there will be no violent behaviour.‘ This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the programme “L’aria che tira” on La7. ’It is obvious that Israel will not allow the naval blockade to be violated, which is why we have always called for maximum caution. We have advised the flotilla not to attempt to break the blockade because we do not know what might happen and, above all, we do not know who is on board the other boats, so we do not know exactly who is there. We must guarantee the safety of our people,” added the head of the Foreign Ministry.
