Rome, 1 October (LaPresse) – “The flotilla is in international waters and is not violating any rules. There would also be room for discussion if it entered those 12 miles, as to who those waters belong to. And the likely answer is that they do not belong to Israel. However, the government’s narrative regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla is stigmatising, criminalising and infantilising, as is its narrative regarding NGOs, civil society and people who are doing what governments are obliged to do but are not doing.” These are the words of Riccardo Noury, Italian spokesperson for Amnesty International, on the sidelines of the press conference at Montecitorio on the Global Sumud Flotilla.
