Gaza, Albanese: “In Italy, a return of fascist attitudes”

Milan, Oct. 1 (LaPresse) – “I’ve been living outside of Italy for 23 years. Palestine, through this role assigned to me by the United Nations, has given me the opportunity to reconnect with my country. I find an Italy very different from the one I left 20 years ago — it has lost its sense of legality. I’m certain there is no deep understanding of the Constitution, of its origins, of the last generations who don’t know the 100,000 deaths that gave birth to it. If it had been truly absorbed by our society, we would have had greater protection against this return of the right and fascist attitudes in our country. I see it in how law enforcement behaves toward the population and against those who protest.”
This was said by Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, during her speech at the event “Gaza: The Humiliation of Law” held in the Great Hall of the Milan courthouse.
