Rome, Oct 8 (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Musetti’s run at the ATP 1000 in Shanghai comes to an end. The Carrara native was defeated in the round of 16 by Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Musetti posted decent stats in the first set (69% first serves in with 67% of points won). However, the Canadian was more precise, saving three break points and scoring three more points than his opponent in the opening set. In the second set, Auger-Aliassime saved three break points in the fourth game and, with rhythm and depth in his shots, stifled any comeback attempt by his rival. The turning point came in the fifth game. Leading 40-0, Musetti allowed the Canadian back into the game, who then capitalized on Musetti’s eighth unforced error to secure the break. In the seventh game, Auger-Aliassime broke again: in the longest game of the match so far, Musetti gifted the service with a forehand that landed beyond the baseline.
