Gaza, Hamas accuses Israel: ‘It manipulates agreed dates and lists’

Milan, 9 October (LaPresse) – Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem, speaking to Al Jazeera, accused Israel of having begun to ‘manipulate the dates, lists and some of the procedures and measures agreed upon in the ceasefire agreement.’ Qassem said that Netanyahu is acting in this way to ‘show the people that he is in control of the situation, pulling the strings and managing events.’ ‘We are in contact with the mediators to force the occupation to respect what has been agreed and not allow any procrastination,’ he continued, adding that there had been talk of ‘a ceasefire at noon today, but the occupation, for internal reasons, is postponing the announcement to other dates’. ‘We continue to say that the occupation must respect what has been agreed and we ask the mediators to work to ensure that this happens,’ he told Al-Jazeera. Netanyahu’s office announced that the ceasefire agreement will only come into effect after approval at a meeting of the Israeli Cabinet, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. local time, 5 p.m. in Italy.
