As in 2024, the Swiss champion will be the star of the “Roger & Friends Celebrity Doubles Match”, an exhibition doubles match that will take place at the end of the playing session on Friday 10 October on the Centre Court of the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena. Federer will take to the court with Chinese actors Donnie Yen and Leo Wu, and former tennis player Jie Zheng, doubles champion at the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2006. The Swiss arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday and was warmly welcomed at Pudong International Airport (PVG) by Tournament Director Michael Luevano. Much loved in China and a two-time winner of the tournament, Federer shared smiles and greetings upon his arrival, marking a special moment for fans who eagerly awaited his presence at the tournament. ‘Shanghai holds a special place in my heart, and seeing tennis thrive here is incredibly rewarding,’ Federer told Forbes.com.
