Milan, 12 October (LaPresse) – ‘We are doing very well, but there is this curiosity that is absolutely legitimate. We like having these remaining days, we need them, but all the schedules are being respected.’ This is what Giovanni Malagò, president of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Foundation, had to say about the countdown to the next Winter Games. ‘Italy will be the centre of the world, with an estimated 2.5 billion people tuning in for the opening ceremony, but beyond its global reach, this event is a barometer of a country’s prestige and importance, not only in terms of sporting results, which have been very good in recent years thanks to what has been done, but also in terms of its credibility in organising major sporting events,’ he added to Sky Sport on the sidelines of the “Tennis & Friends” event in Rome.
