Thailand-Cambodia: Trump to attend peace agreement signing

Turin, Oct. 14 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the signing ceremony of the peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, which will take place at an upcoming Southeast Asian regional summit. The announcement was made by Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan. Trump “looks forward to witnessing the peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia,” the minister told reporters at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia and the United States will facilitate the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, which will require both sides to remove all mines and heavy artillery from their borders, Hasan said. The minister also expressed hope that the agreement will be signed during the next meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders, to be held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur from October 26 to 28. “During the summit, we hope to see the signing of the declaration known as the Kuala Lumpur Agreement between these two neighboring countries to ensure peace and a lasting ceasefire,” he specified.
