Seoul (South Korea), 27 March (LaPresse/AP) – The number of victims of the fires that have broken out in the southern regions of South Korea, among the worst in the history of the Asian country, has risen to 26. Approximately 37,000 people have been evacuated. The areas most affected include the city of Andong and the counties of Uiseong and Sancheong, as well as the city of Ulsan. Over 300 structures have been destroyed, and dozens of helicopters have been mobilised to contain the flames. The victims of the fires also include a pilot, whose helicopter crashed during efforts to contain the fires, and four firefighters, who died after being trapped by the fast-moving flames.
