Milan-Cortina, Soncin and Girelli torchbearers: “A great honor”

Rome, October 26 (LaPresse) – From the spotlight of Euro 2025 to the Olympics. Milan-Cortina 2026 has announced the new torchbearers who will accompany the Olympic Flame on its symbolic journey toward the Winter Games. Among them, representing the Women’s National Team, will be Andrea Soncin and Cristiana Girelli. Exactly one month before the start of the Flame’s journey, which will begin on November 26 with the lighting in Olympia, Greece, the names of an extraordinary group of personalities who will carry the torch during its 63-day tour across Italy have been revealed. Also present were the coach and the captain of the national team, two key figures for the entire movement, who, with passion, talent, and commitment, are contributing to the tremendous growth of women’s football, a cornerstone of Italian sport that is achieving increasingly ambitious goals. “Representing the Women’s National Team on the journey of the Olympic Flame is a great privilege,” said Soncin. “I am honored to be part of the path of one of the most iconic symbols of sport, which for over a hundred years has united people, cultures, and territories.” Girelli was also thrilled: “I am truly proud to carry the Flame for the most important sporting event there is,” said the forward. “Milan-Cortina 2026 will bring Italy to the heart of the world.”
