Tempio Pausania, car plunges off bridge: 25-year-old dead. Among rescuers, his father

Cagliari, Oct. 26 (LaPresse) – Tragedy during the night on the outskirts of Tempio Pausania, in Gallura (Sardinia): a BMW carrying five young people on their way to a graduation party plunged off a bridge, causing the death of 25-year-old Omar Masia. Among the rescuers responding to the crash was also the young man’s father, Massimiliano, a firefighter serving in the local station. Without knowing it was his son, he was among those who arrived first on the scene and discovered the truth while attempting to provide aid. The accident occurred along the Baldu–L’Agnata road. According to an initial reconstruction, the young man was traveling with four friends heading to a private home for a graduation party. For reasons still under investigation, possibly related to speed, the car skidded off the road and fell from the bridge. Firefighters, 118 emergency services, and carabinieri responded to the scene. The other occupants sustained serious injuries and were taken urgently to hospital. Investigations are underway to clarify the dynamics of the accident.
