Football, Copa Libertadores: Flamengo knocks out Racing and reaches the final

Rio de Janeiro, Oct. 30 (LaPresse) – Flamengo has reached the Copa Libertadores final after a 0-0 draw against Argentina’s Racing Club in the second leg of the first semifinal. The Brazilian club managed to defend the 1-0 advantage secured in the first leg and will aim to win the prestigious South American football tournament for the fourth time. Flamengo secured qualification despite playing much of the second half with 10 men, following Gonzalo Plata’s red card in the 56th minute. The final is scheduled for November 29 at the Monumental Stadium in Lima, Peru. In the other semifinal, Ecuador’s Liga de Quito defeated Palmeiras 3-0 in the first leg and is close to reaching a historic final. Flamengo previously won the Libertadores in 1981, 2019, and 2022. Another victory for the storied red-and-black club would give Brazil its eighth title in the last nine editions of the tournament.
