Kremlin: ‘Burevestnik missile is not part of nuclear testing’

Rome, 30 October (LaPresse) – Russia’s tests on the nuclear-powered Burevestnik missile are not part of internationally banned nuclear weapons testing. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in response to a question about recent comments by US President Donald Trump, who ordered the Pentagon to ‘immediately resume’ US nuclear testing. “If Trump was referring to the Burevestnik test as a nuclear test conducted by a country, it cannot be considered a nuclear test in any way. All states develop their own defence systems, but this does not constitute a nuclear test,” Peskov stressed during a press briefing, as reported by Tass. Earlier, President Trump announced that he had instructed the Pentagon to resume nuclear testing, without specifying whether this involved actual warhead explosions or other types of experiments.
