Milan, 5 November (LaPresse) – “At present, Markus Kirchler and Marco Di Marcello are still officially missing and the search for them continues. The Consulate General in Calcutta has also received confirmation of the death of Italian national Paolo Cocco, whose body has been recovered.” This was announced by sources at the Italian Foreign Ministry regarding the Italian mountaineers caught in avalanches in Nepal. Nepalese rescuers today recovered two bodies from Mount Yalung Ri, where an avalanche on Monday swept away and killed seven mountaineers, including three Italians. One of the two bodies recovered is that of photographer Paolo Cocco, while the other is that of Frenchman Christian André Manfredi. According to the local newspaper The Himalayan Times, both were transported by helicopter to Kathmandu for autopsies.
