Rome, 7 November (LaPresse) – Italy has been hit by extreme weather events, with cities in particular bearing the brunt of the damage and Rome being the worst affected. This is the picture painted by the new “Città clima” (Climate Cities) report presented by Legambiente ahead of COP30 in Brazil and Climate Pride on 15 November. The association’s analysis focuses on the impact that the climate crisis is having on municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants, where a total of 18.6 million people live. In Italy, there have been 811 extreme weather events in the last 11 years, 97 of which occurred in 2025 (January-September), recorded in 136 municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants. Of these, only 39.7% have adopted an adaptation plan or strategy.
