Vatican City, Nov. 8 (LaPresse) – On the occasion of the six-month anniversary of the election of Pope Leo XIV, Radio Vaticana–Vatican News is releasing Leo from Chicago, a documentary that retraces the history, family roots, studies, and Augustinian vocation of Robert Francis Prevost in his homeland: the United States. The journey unfolds from his childhood in Dolton, through the memories of his brothers Louis and John, and continues through schools and universities, communities, and parishes, with voices of fellow religious, teachers, classmates, and long-time friends.
Leo from Chicago follows the documentary León de Perú, presented last June, which focused on the years of mission of the future Pontiff in the South American country. It is a production of the Editorial Directorate of the Dicastery for Communication, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Apostolado El Sembrador Nueva Evangelización (Esne). The documentary was created by journalists Deborah Castellano Lubov, Salvatore Cernuzio, Felipe Herrera-Espaliat, with editing by Jaime Vizcaíno Haro.
At 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, the documentary will be published on the Vatican News YouTube channel in three languages (English, Italian, and Spanish) and distributed through other international media outlets.
Leo from Chicago will be screened in the coming days in several Italian cities during public events organized by the Dicastery for Communication dedicated to the figure of Pope Leo, particularly in Vicenza and Cremona (November 21), Trento (November 25), Verona (December 1), Genoa (December 5), and Cagliari (December 15).
