Budapest (Hungary), 14 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – Hungary will challenge the European Union’s plan to end energy imports from Russia and will take the case to an EU court, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said. Speaking on state radio, Orban accused the Union of trying to circumvent its veto power on Russian energy sanctions by instead using trade rules in its plan to phase out Russian oil and gas imports by the end of 2027. ‘We are taking this matter to the European Court of Justice,’ he said. ‘This is a flagrant violation of European law, the rule of law and European cooperation. They will pay a very high price for this,’ he added.
