Budget law, PD: ‘Shameful amnesty proposed in exchange for votes’

Rome, 15 Nov. (LaPresse) – ‘The FdI amendment to the budget, which effectively reopens the building amnesty, is a very serious act. It is a measure designed not to solve the housing emergency, but to gather support in Campania on the eve of the vote. It is a dynamic that has all the characteristics of a political vote trade.’ This was stated by Piero De Luca, regional secretary of the PD Campania. “Instead of the 15 billion euro housing plan promised by Meloni, which miraculously disappeared after the announcements, we have yet another vote-winning amnesty. All that’s missing, to complete the election campaign, is for them to offer “a set of pots and pans, a vacuum cleaner and a bicycle with Shimano gears”. This is beyond ridiculous. The situation is made even more grotesque, adds the Democrat, by the glaring contradictions within the majority: Cirielli applauds the amnesty openly. Tajani tries to put the brakes on with an embarrassed “case by case”. Meloni remains silent, after swearing “no more amnesties”. “Who should we believe? Who really governs? And above all: why, on such a sensitive issue, must the country witness a confused and contradictory performance, which only hides the goal of campaigning by exploiting the fears and difficulties of citizens? All this while in Campania thousands of families are experiencing a dramatic housing emergency, completely ignored by this manoeuvre. No resources, no real plans, no action on unsafe housing: just propaganda and broken promises. If President Meloni has even a shred of dignity, she should withdraw this amendment immediately and present a serious plan to tackle the housing crisis,” concludes De Luca.
