Milan, 15 November (LaPresse) – “What is wrong with this bill is that it essentially prevents sex and emotional education in primary schools. An amendment by the Lega party had even attempted to prevent it in secondary schools, at least on this issue. Fortunately, they backtracked. Italy is one of only seven countries in Europe where sex and relationship education is not yet compulsory in schools, and we are calling for it to be compulsory in all school cycles: it is also needed to combat bullying and gender-based violence. Repression is not enough without prevention, which can only start in schools’. So said PD secretary Elly Schlein on La7’s programme “In altre parole”.
