Frankfurt (Germany), 19 Nov. (LaPresse) – In the middle of the night, at Berlin’s Jungfernheide underground station, the Bundeswehr simulated an armed attack on a U-Bahn train as part of the “Bollwerk Baerlin III” exercise, a training exercise dedicated to the defence of the capital. The operation involved the Wachbataillon, a unit usually engaged in ceremonial protocols during official visits, but which also has the task of protecting ministries and government offices in the event of a crisis. In the simulated scenario, a separatist group had attacked a train in the tunnel. The soldiers, who entered the station in combat gear, engaged in a firefight with “casualties” and “victims”, recreated to make the training as realistic as possible.
