Black Friday, Codacons: “Turnover of around €4 billion, in line with last year”

Milan, Nov. 22 (LaPresse) – “Black Friday will generate a turnover of around €4 billion in Italy between online and in-store purchases throughout the entire discount period, with spending in line with last year’s figures and an increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence to guide purchases.” This was stated by Codacons on the occasion of the sales and promotions period, which will officially start on November 28 this year. “55% of citizens will definitely purchase at least one product during the discount period (Black Friday and Cyber Monday), but if we also consider the ‘undecided’ and those who will wait until the last minute to decide whether or not to take advantage of the offers, the percentage of those interested jumps to 85%, stable compared to last year,” says Codacons, according to which “the lion’s share will once again be taken by the web, with more than 6 out of 10 purchases (65%) being made online on various e-commerce platforms, for a total value of digital transactions of over €2.6 billion.” However, maximum attention will be paid to prices, with a growing share of consumers deciding at the last minute whether and what to buy, based precisely on the discounts offered by sellers, in order to keep spending to a minimum and take advantage of the best offers,” adds Codacons, according to whose estimates “the trend of taking advantage of Black Friday to get a head start on Christmas gifts continues: as many as one in two purchases made during the discount period will be gifts for relatives or friends during the holidays, thus consolidating the trend of recent years, which has seen a shift in Christmas spending from December to the end of November.”
