Regional elections, Boccia (PD): “A united centre-left can send the right home”

Rome, Nov. 24 (LaPresse) – “We are facing the vote in three large regions, which represent a large portion of the Italian population, and whose results, added to those of the previous seven regions where votes took place, outline a result for as many as 10 regions. And in all these regions, which account for more than half the country, the PD has always grown, and I believe it will be the leading party in Campania and Puglia. And we might discover that the centre-left holds the majority. In any case, the message is clear: when united, the centre-left is able to build an alternative to this government”. This was said by Senator Francesco Boccia, president of the PD parliamentary group, commenting in Tg3’s election special on the vote in Campania, Puglia and Veneto. “In Veneto – Boccia said – the centre-left is growing, even if we are still far from challenging the region against the centre-right. But from today, when the last regional elections are over, a temporal straight line will begin that will lead us directly to the general elections without other intermediate votes, and the message is clear: united, we can send this right-wing home. Regional election results, as is known, primarily depend on how the region has been administered. Let me claim that Puglia and Campania were very well governed by Emiliano and De Luca for 10 years. The candidates Decaro and Fico were authoritative and very competent. In Campania, Giorgia Meloni loses: she was the one who imposed Deputy Minister Cirielli and who fueled a narrative portraying them as winners, complete with a dance on stage. Elly Schlein’s leadership has brought the PD growth everywhere, both in terms of councillors and in percentage terms, and I am convinced that her leadership is very strong even at the national level”, concluded Boccia.
