Rome, Nov. 30 (LaPresse) – “Here, peace is a desire and a vocation; it is a gift and a work always in progress,” said Pope Leo XIV during his speech at the meeting with Lebanese authorities in Beirut. “Certainly, there are millions of Lebanese, here and around the world, who serve peace quietly, day by day. But to you, who hold important institutional responsibilities within this people, a special blessing is given if you can say that you have always placed the goal of peace above all else,” the Pontiff added. “You are a people who do not succumb, but who, in the face of trials, always knows how to rise again with courage,” he continued. “Your resilience is an essential trait of true peacemakers: the work of peace is, indeed, a continuous restarting. The commitment and love for peace do not know fear in the face of apparent defeats, do not bend under disappointments, but look far ahead, welcoming and embracing all realities with hope. Tenacity is required to build peace; perseverance is needed to protect and nurture life.”
Rome, 30 nov.
