Brussels, Dec. 3 (LaPresse) – The rector of the College of Europe and former High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini, Ambassador Stefano Sannino, director of the European Commission’s DG MENA and director general of the EEAS at the time of the events, and a senior official of the College of Europe have been released after questioning as part of an investigation into alleged fraud relating to EU-funded training for young diplomats, conducted by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO). “After being questioned by the Belgian federal judicial police, the three individuals were formally informed of the charges against them. The charges concern fraud and corruption in public procurement, conflict of interest and breach of professional secrecy. They were released, as they were not considered a flight risk,” the EPPO said in a statement.
