Ukraine, Kremlin: “Putin has not rejected Trump’s peace plan”

Moscow, 3 Dec. (LaPresse) – The claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine “is incorrect.” This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “As said yesterday, some things were accepted, others were indicated as unacceptable. This is a normal working process, a search for compromise,” he added. Russia, Peskov continued, hopes that the American side will respect the principle of silence during the negotiations for the agreement on the war in Ukraine. “We will respect this principle and we hope that our American counterparts will do the same.”
Peskov then stressed that a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump “is possible and can be arranged at any time.” Renouncing Russian gas, Peskov explained, Europe “is condemning itself to much more expensive energy sources, which will inevitably have consequences for the European economy and a decline in its competitiveness.” And on the corruption scandal in Ukraine, he concluded: “Corruption in Kyiv and the corrupt tendencies of its authorities are well known.”
