Brussels, 4 December (LaPresse) – “In line with the utmost rigour and fairness with which I have always carried out my duties, today I have decided to resign from my position as Rector of the College of Europe and Director of the European Union Diplomatic Academy. I am confident that the College community, across our three campuses, will continue on the path of innovation and excellence that we have charted together over the past five wonderful years.” This was announced in a statement by the Rector of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini, following the investigation into alleged fraud in contracts between the EEAS and the academic institution. ‘I am proud of what we have achieved together and deeply grateful for the trust, esteem and support that students, teachers, staff and alumni of the College and the Academy have shown me and continue to show me. It has been an honour and a pleasure for me to serve the College community and its mission,’ added the former High Representative.
