Ukraine, Moscow: ‘Ready to take countermeasures in case of asset confiscation’

Turin, 4 December (LaPresse) – Moscow is preparing countermeasures in case the European Union proceeds with the confiscation of its assets. This was stated by the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova. ‘Any illegal action against our assets will not go unpunished. A package of retaliatory measures is already being prepared in the event of outright theft, the confiscation of the Russian Federation’s assets,’ she said during a briefing, as reported by Ria Novosti. Zakharova also called the EU’s idea of using other people’s funds as part of a “reparatory credit” for Kiev “inappropriate”, explaining that such a plan would damage the European bloc itself.
